Decorating Tools For Your Top Two Rooms

A lot of the people who watch home improvement and interior designing shows secretly wish that their bedroom or their living room looked the same way. But unless you are blessed with the creative juices of an interior decorator or have the extra money to hire a good one, it would seem that that wish will continue and hold to be just a wish…forever.

Nevertheless, there is hope for you. You might not be able to dwell in such lavish spaces but these simple pointers in getting the right décor tool for your home might just give you a taste of the good life.

1. The living room. Let us start with the room where you entertain your guest the most, the living room.

* A lovely rug can give your living room a nice and homey feel. Rugs can be quite expensive so you need not cover the whole room with it. The trick is to place the rug in the center of the room or in the heart of your conversation area. A six foot nine rug can very well do the job. Position your furniture in a U shape around the rug. Make sure that the legs of your sofa and chairs do not touch the rug. If you opt to get a bigger rug like an eight by ten sized one, you may place the legs of your furniture on the corners of the rug. An even bigger rug can allow you to assemble all of your furniture on top of it.

* If you want to add more color to the room, you can change the slipcovers of your sofa and chairs. You can change them according to seasons if you want. Dark colored pillows on light shaded slipcovers are well suited for the cold and winter seasons. During spring, you may want to bring out the flowers on decorative vases on your tabletop. Pastel paintings also do well to bring color and sparkle to the room.

2. The bedroom. The bedroom is usually one's space of refuge. That is why it is important that it stays comfortable and has a positive chi to it.

* Just because bedrooms are generally meant for sleeping does not mean that they have to be dark. Light and brightness are important considerations too. Interior designers usually place matching lamps, one for each side of the bed. The lamps would not only enable you to get some light reading before getting that shut eye but they do their job of brightening up the room. Coordinate the finish of the lamps with other items in your bedroom like your pillows perhaps for that more harmonized look.

* When we picture bedrooms, we always find bedside tables in them. If you want to place one on each side of your bed, make sure they are a matching pair. The table's finish should complement with your other bedroom fixtures. There is no strict rule of time for the height of the table. What is important is that you get one that has no pointy corners.
